Sired by "Bold Ruler," Secretariat was blanketed under the assumption that all of Bold Ruler's foals possessed excellent speed—but not for distances greater than one mile. Oh, how this colt dispelled that notion. Winning the 1973 Kentucky Derby in a record 1:59.4, not only did Secretariat "last" the mile-and-a-quarter distance, but became the only horse ever to run each quarter-mile fraction faster than the previous one!
This fine array covers each triumphant leg of Secretariat's 1973 Triple Crown and includes: Signed Photo - 16” x 20" Belmont Stakes b/w photo signed by Ron Turcotte (NM, “10”, nicely matted and framed with plaque to measure 22” x 26”, Auction LOA from JSA); Program Trio - All three Triple Crown programs (approx. 4” x 9”, EX/MT, each listing Secretariat); Ticket Quartet - Belmont $2 win ticket (2” x 3-3/4”, GD) and Preakness $5 exacta ticket trio (2” x 3-1/8”, EX w/clipped upper-right corners)—all of which were successfully bet on Secretariat.
